Small update – why it’s been slow

A bit of a personal thing this one, and the reason why development has essentially stopped on a couple of projects.

Early in the year, my wife was taken ill and had to take extended leave from work, shortly afterwards she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. For most of this year, I’ve essentially been a carer for my two young children and wife, whilst holding down a full time job that’s been quite busy. as you can imagine, being soley responsibe for the lives of 3 humans, a hamster and many houseplants is a little time consuming 😛

I feel more comfortable sharing this now things are looking up!, there’s light at the end of the tunnel!

Wife’s recovering physically and mentally, Christmas is just around the corner, and 2022 should be a fresh new year, allowing ample tinkering time and finishing off of the main project that started all this, the Super LED Blinkenator 2000! 2 years late, but in time for the Spectrum next Kickstarter 2 to have been received by many!

I’ve used this blog and these little projects as a distraction from real life where I get chance to just immerse myself for a while. That’s easy to do when things are ‘fun’ – but when there’s annoying , mundane stuff to just get finished, it’s been really hard to get into the right headspace to ‘just get it done’ . It’s been much easier to do ‘something shiny’ and startup a myriad of other fun things – some of which will never see the light of day, but have been used to hone my Fusion360 skills a little.

it’s been great having some beer money and funds to keep investing in making this stuff, so thankyou to the many C64 Mini keyboard kit customers out there, sorry for some of the delays experienced and hopefully I can recreate the success with the Amiga Mini!

Oh, and my 9 year old sun has me addicted to battle royal on Fortnite , Im watching a little too gold mining stuff and waaay much netflix . not quite doing downtime though as often have other things on the go simultaneously, I find it quite hard to switch off!

Anyways, that’s enough waffle!, i’m getting back to normal, still tinkering away

  1. I’ve lived through similar times. My wife also was diagnosed with a “female cancer” already at stage 3. She went through a LOT and I had a LOT to deal with. Truly sorry to hear about your family’s troubles. I know what it takes and what it does to you and others. It’s rough.
