Well, after endless weeks of frustration with the D9 and extrusion issues, I’ve gone and done a few things
Purchased a silly amount of ‘spare parts’ at ridiculous prices from random chinese websites – it’s like Christmas! every day!, there’s steady stream of small boxes and packages arriving. I’ll have enough bits to build a couple of spare printers soon…….
And, I picked up what’s possibly the most popular ‘small’ 3D printer on the market today,
The Ender 3
I got the PRO version – review of which can be seen here –

How I decided to get the Pro? –
I’m quite a fond user of the HotUKdeals website and spotted THIS THREAD during one of my browsing sessions, thinking that maybe a new, smaller 3D printer is a good idea…….
Bargin! – Ender 3 for just £137, that’s a whole printer for the price of the planned E3D V6 and Bondtech BMG upgrade.
Normal price of these Ender’s has been hovering around £180ish
Hobbyking were out of stock……….So, off to the faithful Aliexpress – and I found the official Creality store……Here –
Ended up buying the Pro as I managed to get that price down to £152 with a voucher and get 4.5% cashback at Quidco
Total price paid – £143.64.
Best part – UK stock AND it arrived in 48 hours!
Why the Pro?
- Proper Branded Power supply (so more stable power)
- Wider Y axis (so more stable bed)
- Almost the same price as the standard version!
That’s really all the difference there is.
If you’re faced with getting an Ender 3 Pro, or a plain old Ender 3, just look at the $$ / ££. If there’s not much price difference, get the Pro. If there’s a significant difference, just get the plain old one!
