I’ve found a solution to having a fairly stable base that’s wider than the 60mm square wheel carriages Wanhao uses…
It’s possible to create a 120mm wide base, IF you offset the mounting of the bearing blocks from the centre as can be seen above and below…
With an offset from the centre so that about 150mm of the plate hangs from the front and 60mm hangs from the back, the full range of travel front to back can be accommodated….
I’m unsure if this will have any real world repercussions as the centre of gravity will change on the build platform and could potentially cause wobble. I think that any issues will be minimal however as the standard Delrin wheels are really that bad!
Hopefully things improve! – plan is to make the change easily reversible just incase 😛
Hello!
Nice to see someone with the same idea!
I am doing the same thing with my D9 500, just ordered 6 linear 550 mm rails and 12 sliders.
The rails will be adjusted in length as needed and I will have to figure out the rest as I go.

I’d sanity check your order for rails, 550mm may not be enough. 500mm is only just a little too big for my D9-300!! And a 500mm fits on the X axis bar perfectly!

Thank’s I’ll check.
Ordering from ebay without having the printer available for measuring was not the best idea 😉
